His Word

2 Corinthians 5:7, NIV

For we live by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7, NIV

Paul wrote this verse after he said that as long as we are in this earthly tent, we groan and are burdened (2 Corinthians 5:4). Then, he encouraged them to activate their faith and not allow the circumstances around them to destroy their relationship with God.

Indeed, there are seasons in life wherein we will be challenged to keep our faith. It usually happens when we go through challenges or pain. It somehow gives us a taste of how it feels like to be away from God.

It takes faith to believe that good things will still happen despite the unexpected situations that we experienced.

It takes faith to hope for things to be better.

It takes faith to fight the battle within.

It takes faith to see a bright future behind the struggles and the daily obstacles that we face.

It takes faith to know that God is with us even when our hearts are breaking.

In moments of happiness and victories, it takes faith to trust that God will teach us how to steward everything that He gave.

In times of deep sadness, it takes faith to believe that God knows what’s best.

You see, it’s not easy to keep our faith. In fact, it’s one of the hardest things to do especially when we are overwhelmed by deep sorrow.

But this verse is a good reminder that we need to bring our hearts back to the right perspective. We need to slowly accept that followers of Jesus were called to live in faith. Not according to our own will, understanding or timeline. But according to our faith in the love and promises of our Savior. We live based on what we hoped for and trust that one day, things will be better.

For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7, NIV
