Aim To Finish The Race

I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

Acts 20:23-24, NIV

This is what Paul said when he was talking to the Ephesian elders. He shared to them how the Holy Spirit opened his eyes to the possible hardships that he will face. In short, the Spirit taught him how to accept and deal with it. God prepared his heart and Paul humbly responded to His leading.

He accepted the fact that the journey won’t be easy. He humbly received what God revealed to him even though its challenging. He didn’t complain or even question God. Instead, he allowed Him to move, and He chose to focus on what matters most in the end.

Paul considered his life worth nothing to him. He just fixed his gaze on the mission and the goal that was set before Him. His only aim is to finish the race and complete the task that the Lord Jesus gave him – and its to testify the good news of God’s grace.

This is a beautiful reminder for us to follow what Paul did. Whenever we face difficult situations in life, let’s remember the purpose that God planted in our hearts. Just like Paul, let’s aim to finish the race. This may be a challenging thing to do, but let’s keep in mind the mission that Jesus entrusted to us.

Let’s end this life victoriously. Let’s not allow the negative circumstances to hinder us from following the plans of God. Don’t worry, Jesus will be there to help and sustain us.

He said in His word that if we will put His Kingdom first, all ‘these’ things will be added unto us. Let’s claim this promise today.

Prayer: Our loving Father, thank you so much for reminding us what to do whenever we face difficulties in life. We pray for a heart like Paul that’s always willing to follow and abide in your plans no matter what it takes. Help us to acknowledge your ways, and guide us to the right decisions. Please lead us to your light, Lord, so that we may be able to also bless the people around us. This we ask, in Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.
