Day 229 – James 1:19-20

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

James 1:19-20, NIV

If you receive unfair treatment from others and it seems like your heart is about to burst, then pause for a while and give yourself a break. Keep silent and choose to listen. Talk to God and surrender to Him what you feel. Remind yourself that human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Ask Him to teach you how to manage it, and do not rely on your own understanding. Wait for the Holy Spirit to move and be patient. Anger is part of human emotion. That’s why you can absolutely express it in ways that don’t hurt others. Honor God in everything you do, even in moments when you feel so angry inside.

May you choose to surrender your anger in the presence of God.
