Faith

Do you Believe that Jesus can Heal you?

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.

Matthew 9:27-31, NIV

Jesus can heal people just like what He did to the blind men, and He can also do it in your life. But the question is, “Do you believe that He can heal you?” May you also have the same answer as that of the blind men. May you also have the heart to believe in Him. Jesus healed them because of their faith. So if you are asking for healing right now, then you need to believe with all your heart that Jesus can certainly do it.

Now, for us to grasp the kind of faith that these blind men have, let’s try to observe how they showed their faith to Jesus:

  • They followed Jesus

In verse 27, it says there that Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him. This is not an easy thing to do, especially for people who can’t see where they are heading. These men patiently listened to what others were saying so that they would know where Jesus was. They took the effort to find Him despite their abilities. How about you? Are you also willing to make an effort or offer sacrifices just for you to follow Jesus? May these blind men remind you that you will find what you are looking for in life if you will just patiently look and ask for it.

  • The two blind men believed and proclaimed that Jesus would heal them.

When He had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. They know by heart that Jesus will heal them. They boldly answered “yes” to Jesus because they had enough faith to believe that they would receive their sight again. They didn’t doubt Him. They didn’t ask Jesus with so many questions. The blind men didn’t say that they would only believe Him if Jesus would do certain things. They hold on to the hope that Jesus is the one who can heal their sickness. Because of the faith that these blind men showed to our Savior, He then said, “According to your faith, let it be done to you.” And that’s when they receive their sight.

Now, this is the chance for you to proclaim your faith in Him. Tell Jesus that you believe in His goodness and power. Let your faith be bigger than your fears. Do what the blind men did. Seek Jesus and follow Him. Look for Him, especially in times when you can’t understand what’s going on. Patiently walk with Him along the journey, and one day, you will receive the healing that you asked for, just like what He did to the two blind men.

Remember that your faith can move mountains. It can heal sickness, and it can restore your life. Your faith can attract blessings and miracles. So do not lose hope. Keep believing in His promises and hold on to His love. The time will come when Jesus will take you to another level. He will let you experience the kind of life you can never imagine. In Him, you will receive not just complete healing but also the kind of hope that will sustain you until the end.
