God is a Promise-Keeper
Paul was preaching about the gospel to the people in Pisidian Antioch. He started by sharing the story of the Israelites and how God gave Him His promise. And it was Jesus, the savior of the world. In Acts 13:23, Paul emphasized that sending Jesus Christ here on earth was a promise fulfilled by God. He gave His only begotten Son to save and set us free. That’s who He is.
The Israelites were waiting for the Messiah to come, and it may have taken a long time, but God still fulfilled His covenant to His people. He took good care of them. He extended His mercy and love by sacrificing His beloved son. God went through the pain of watching His son suffer in order to save His people and fulfill His promise.
Sometimes, we forget His faithfulness in our lives because we focus on the bad things that happened. But in this verse, we are reminded that God is a promise-keeper. He will fulfill His plans in our lives; He even allowed Jesus to suffer on our behalf. That’s how gracious and loving our Father is.
So, if you are doubting His goodness right now, then keep in mind that God’s word will never fail. His promises will remain true in our lives no matter what happens. It may seem like God is not listening because you couldn’t see any changes yet, but trust that His hands are moving in the midst. He is working behind the scenes. Let’s keep our faith in Him because His words will never fail.
Prayer: Father God, thank you so much for giving us the chance to receive your promise. Thank you for being so faithful in our lives. We may have sins and commit mistakes, but you are still there, giving us everything we need. Thank you so much for your great love, Lord. We pray that you will help us remember you are a promise keeper. When life seems so challenging, please teach us how to hold on to what you said. May we always choose to glorify your name even in the midst of uncertainties. This we ask, and pray, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
