His Word

God’s Desire Is To Save The Lost

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Luke 19:10, NIV

Jesus said these words after he visited the house of a chief tax collector named Zacchaeus. People were trying to criticize Him because He was with a sinner. But Jesus reminded them that He came to seek and save the lost. He made himself available for Zacchaeus. He knew that he needed His salvation and grace. He didn’t stop just because people were criticizing Him. At the end of the day, His heart’s desire is to save the lost and heal those who are sick.

We are surrounded by many “Zacchaeus” in our lives who badly need our help. We are once like him, a sinner who was longing for a Savior. That’s why let’s not forget where Jesus saved us. Let His compassion and love flow into our lives so that we may be able to share His light with others. Let’s not follow those people who used to criticize Jesus for being with a sinner. Remember that Jesus wanted to seek and save them.

Now, just like Jesus, we are not also exempted from criticism. We also have our share of burdens and pain that we need to bear, especially in loving those who are broken. There are instances when we will be judged because we chose to connect and communicate with those who are treated as less in the eyes of society. But remember what Jesus did. He never stopped doing the right thing. He continued to obey the Father. May this be the desire of our hearts. Regardless of the negative or harsh words we receive, we will still choose to love God and obey His will. We will still choose to reach out to those who badly need God’s help.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for sending Jesus to demonstrate what it truly means to honor and obey you. We pray for a humble heart, Lord, that we may choose to follow your ways and let go of our fears. Pour out your love and give us the courage to share them with others. And help us to seek the lost and the broken. Please equip us to serve. We thank you for this opportunity to honor you, our Lord. In Jesus’ Name, we pray, amen.
