His Word

He Chose To Pray And Kept His Faith Despite What He Experienced

To you, Lord, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit.

Psalms 28:1-2, NIV

Every time David was in despair, he would call upon the name of the Lord and remind himself that He was his rock. He believed with all his heart that God would be his source of strength, stability, and foundation. Even though he went through difficulties in life, he knew that he could count on God. He chose to pray and kept his faith despite what he experienced.

His life may not have been perfect, but he knew that God was there with him. He still treated Him as his dear friend. Perhaps he couldn’t feel God’s presence, so he said to Him, “Do not turn a deaf ear to me.” He felt that God was silent, and because of that, he cried out to God and chose to pray.

This is a perfect reminder for us to call upon God especially when we experience difficulties in life. We may think that God is silent, but just like David, let’s remind ourselves that God is our rock. In Him, we will find hope and the courage to keep moving.

Remember that God is your best friend. He will never leave you alone. He will be there to guide and assist you. If you feel discouraged, just call upon the Lord’s name and believe He will move. You can be honest to Him. He will accept the ugly feelings that you have inside. God will listen to your questions.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for reminding me of your wonderful presence. Thank you for giving me the chance to trust and rely on your strength. I pray for your grace, that I may choose to believe in your promises. And when I feel like you are silent, I pray for a heart like David who’s humble enough to call upon your name. This I ask, and pray, in Jesus’ Name, amen.
