Leave Some Space for Improvements
All of us are still work in progress. Nobody is perfect. That’s why we have the chance to grow and become a better version of ourselves. So if you want to learn how to manage your expectations, then one thing that you can do is to leave some space in your mind and heart for improvements. Allow yourself to grow. Create a room where you can explore and commit mistakes. And do the same thing to other people. Please give them the grace that you also want to receive. After all, we are all trying to live this life with the best that we can. And the truth is, only God knows what’s our “best” looks like because He is the one who created us, and He alone knows our potential.
Mistakes are not that bad. It will lead you to become humble and be reminded that your life will not always turn out good. Sometimes, you will go through that season when you feel so messed up inside because of the wrong decisions that you made, or perhaps because of what other people did. And that doesn’t mean you are meant to live a miserable life. You can still enjoy that season if you give yourself the chance to learn the lesson that you need to apply in the future days to come. Your failures are like treasures that are wrapped in thorns. Yes, it’s painful to unravel it, but the moment you discover its value, then everything will make sense.
Choose to look at the brighter side. Focus on the lessons and look forward to that day when you will be able to apply them. Just don’t waste your mistakes. Use it as stepping stones for you to reach your dreams. You may think that things are not happening according to your plans, but the truth is, God’s hands are moving. And He is orchestrating everything. He will even use your mistakes and lead you to the right path. So when you feel like you are a failure because of your poor choices, then remember that your loving Father understands that you are not perfect, and you still need His grace.
Be patient and keep growing. Congratulate yourself every time you remain responsible for your mistakes. It means that you are not wasting the opportunity that God gave you to discover your potential. It’s part of the process. Yes, it’s painful, but you need to go through it so that you will see things from a better perspective. It will not be that disappointing if, from now on, you will give yourself some space to fail.
