Not all People are Strong Enough to Face their Past

Living in the past is one of the things that will hinder us from appreciating God’s blessings. And sad to say, not everyone has the courage to face them. Sometimes, they are those people who appear to be very toxic and challenging to deal with. But behind their difficult characters are deep longing that only the love of God can quench. The truth is, inside their hearts, they are deeply wounded because of what happened in the past. Maybe they are just too consumed with their fears. They choose to carry the pain because they just don’t know how to face them. Or perhaps, nobody believed that they could still be transformed and become a better person. So if you happen to meet these kinds of people. Please be patient and choose to understand them.

You never really know the pain that they are facing. And don’t expect them to explain everything to you because they can’t even understand what’s happening inside. So choose to be there and just walk with them along the journey. The best thing that you can do is pray for them. Let God move in their lives, and He will reveal to them the important matters they need to work on. Consider them as wounded people. Sometimes, they will disappoint you. Not because they wanted to hurt you, but simply because they are just longing for a place where they can rest and find refuge.

Yes, it’s so hard to love them, especially in moments when they commit things that break your heart. But that’s how people who never overcome their past usually react. They live a life full of pain. They unknowingly pass their hurt feelings to others. They are used to live life in misery, and behind their negative characters are silent voices that are crying out for help. So instead of judging them and treating them as bad people, just choose to help them with the best that you can. And if you happen to receive unfair treatments from them, and you find them toxic. Then, just pray for them and allow God to teach you how to love them from afar.

There’s a big reason why they can’t get over what happened before. Maybe they just can’t find the strength that they need. Sometimes, they are too blinded by the pain that they can no longer open their hearts to others. And if you already observed that they stopped listening to your words and advice. Then, all you need to do is to surrender them to God. He will be the one to transform their lives. Do not allow your bitterness to consume your heart. Choose to forgive them. They may hurt you so bad, but just like you, they also need the grace of God.
