Paul Became A Blessing Even Though He Was Held As A Prisoner

Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’

Acts 27:23-24, NIV

Paul was held as a prisoner and sailed to Rome. He was in the middle of a situation that was not favorable and comfortable. But even though he went through some trials, he still managed to encourage the people around him. The ship where he was boarded encountered storms. People were already losing hope, but an angel of God reminded him of the purpose of why he was there. He also believed and kept His faith in God’s promises. He knew that God would save them. And because he still had a mission to fulfill, God also blessed the people who were with him on the ship.

Many times, we go through different challenges as we try to follow the will of God. Just like Paul, there are also hurdles and obstacles along the way that will either break our hearts or help us grow. Sometimes, trials are necessary for us to learn to keep our faith in him. Unlike many of us, Paul never questioned God’s ways. When he was in prison and was brought for a trial, he never complained to God and got mad at Him. Instead, he kept his faith.

Not only that, Paul became a channel of hope to the people around him. Imagine, at this very moment, he was in chains. He was a captive. But that doesn’t stop him from believing in God’s goodness. He knew who was with him. That’s why he had the courage to share the hope that he had with others. He trusted in God’s purpose despite the challenges and unfavorable situations. He was fully convinced that God would save all of them. Paul became a blessing even though he was held as a prisoner.

When you are doing the will of God, His presence will be there to guide you. There may be obstacles along the way, but obey His instructions, and you will receive the strength and grace that you need. At the same time, God will also empower you to encourage others, just like what He did to Paul. You see, following God is not easy, but trust that He will sustain you until the end.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for planting your desires in my heart. As I continue to obey and follow your will, please give me the faith and strength that I may not forget you, especially when facing challenges. Just like Paul, please use me as a vessel of your blessings so that I may share your love even when I’m struggling. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, amen.
