Running away is not the best solution in Dealing with your Sins
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
Psalms 51:1-2
This was the cry of David when he committed adultery with Bathsheba. Instead of running away from God, he humbly asked for His mercy and compassion. He asked God to wash his sins away. He acknowledged that he did something wrong, but he never allowed his guilt to hinder him from connecting to His heart. He chose to stay in His presence despite the disappointment and frustrations that he felt.
David is said to be the “man after God’s heart,” but God didn’t turn away from Him despite his sins. On the contrary, he continued to stay in David’s side and blessed Him. But before he received great blessings, he still needed to face the consequences of his actions. And even though he went through pain and deep misery, he didn’t stop worshipping His Heavenly Father. He continued to acknowledge Him in his life.
David trusted in God’s love and compassion. He reminded himself of who God is in his life. He admitted his failures, but he didn’t focus on his actions. Instead, he set his eyes on God and remembered His great power. Sometimes, when we are so consumed by guilt, we can’t help but entertain the negative thoughts in our minds. We tend to look at ourselves as a failure, and we can’t help but feel so weak, but we always remember what David did.
Focus on the love of God and His compassion. Let Him wash away your sins and trust that He can save you. Just because you committed a sin doesn’t mean it’s already the end of your life. Come to God and be humble in His presence. Accept the truth that you need Him. Acknowledge His power and treat Him as your King.
Just like David, we all commit mistakes in life. There will be days when we forget to consider the will of God, and we choose to follow our selfish desires. But don’t live in the darkness. Keep moving, and let His light shine in your life. Surrender to Him what you feel, and instead of walking away from Him, choose to pray and come to His heart. He will not condemn you. Instead, He will make you feel loved and accepted. In His presence, you will be healed. Know that He can purify your soul and take away your sins. Remember what Jesus did on the cross. Let His blood cleanse your soul so that the enemy can no longer tempt you. Shame is not from God. So let go and let His grace fill your heart.
May you learn to face your sins just like David did. You don’t have to run away from your heavenly Father. He loves you so much. You are always safe in His arms. Come to Him, and He will restore your life. Ask for His strength and be humble. Remember that you can never save yourself. Only God can completely transform you into the person He created you to be. Just don’t live this life on your own. Walk with Him. Accept your mistakes and ask for forgiveness. Let go of the bitterness and receive His healing. Know that His love is greater than the guilt you feel.
