His Word

Serve The Lord Despite All The Pain And Challenges

I served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe testing by the plots of my Jewish opponents.

Acts 20: 19, NIV

Paul went through so many trials while serving God. It was not a comfortable and easy life for Him. He cried and experienced moments of pain. But despite all these, he stayed faithful to God. With great humility, he continued to serve Him with everything that he had.

Sometimes, we have this mindset that whenever we serve the Lord, He will keep us from hardships and challenges. We tend to have this perspective that when a person follows God, he will then go through a smooth and comfortable life.

But that is not the case in Paul’s life. He experienced the opposite. He went through hardships, persecutions and pain. It was not an easy journey for Him. Yet, he still stayed with God and followed His will.

According to Paul’s life, doing the will of God is not always easy. Serving Him is sometimes challenging. But the question is, just like Paul, will we choose to stay with God despite of everything? Will we continue to serve and honor Him despite the pain?

This is a beautiful reminder of the reality we are living in. The world is broken. That’s why, whenever God would ask us to serve His children, it means that we also need to open our hearts and mind to the possible pain that we will receive from them. Serving God means loving His messy, broken, and lost people. It won’t be easy, but Paul’s life reminds us to continue to serve with great humility.

Prayer: Father God, thank you so much for reminding us to serve other people. I pray for a humble heart Lord to follow you. Teach me how to honor you in everything that I do. Lead me to your arms, so that I may choose to abide in your ways despite all the challenges that I face. I pray for your grace and love to consume my soul so that I will always remember your purpose in my life. This, I ask and pray, in Jesus’ name, amen.
