Sometimes, your Increase comes after the mess

Where no oxen are, the manger is clean, but much revenue comes by the strength of the ox.

Proverbs 14:4, NIV

In the past years, farmers used oxen to help them yield a bountiful harvest. But before they receive great revenue, they still need to take good care of them and put them in the manger. And when the oxen are inside the manger, farmers are expected to see a mess and a dirty place that they need to clean from time to time. But despite this messy place, the farmers expect the oxen to do the work in their field. Their strength is really a great help for them. Taking good care of them may require effort, but it’s going to be worth it.

Sometimes, we all need oxen in our lives, someone who will help us to reach the things that God prepared. They are the ones who will assist us along the journey. But being with them and asking for their help somehow requires patience and understanding. We will go through a mess, and we need to accept that’s part of the package. We just need to focus on the positive things that we will experience and stop looking at the messy things around us. Just pray for God’s understanding and wisdom so that you will know how to properly deal with them. Remember the purpose why you allowed them to enter your life and focus on the things that you will learn. Know that you will never experience victory if not because of their help.

If you ask God to send someone to help you, you need to prepare a manger for them. A space in your heart where they are allowed to mess up things. Give them the chance to grow and learn their lessons. Stop expecting them to be perfect and do the things you want. You also need to take good care of them and accept their imperfections. Just walk along the journey with them and don’t easily give up. In moments when you feel tired of their ways, just call upon God, and He will be there to give you the wisdom you need. Just like how the farmers prepared the manger for their oxen, do the same and make an effort to give them a safe place where they can find rest. At first, there will be a lot of adjustments, but you will get through it as long as you are patient enough to deal with their mess.

Don’t do everything on your own. Ask for help but expect a mess. After all, God purposely allowed certain people to be with you because He knows that they can help you grow and prosper. You just need to allow Him to mold your character. You always have a choice. You can either allow others to help you, or you can just do the things on your own. But remember that the other people’s strength will help you gain even greater blessings. You just have to weigh things. I hope that you will acknowledge the help of others and also give them the chance to grow and learn. Just like you, they are not perfect, but despite their imperfections, accept the truth that you also need them.
