But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you. Luke 6:27, NIV We all face difficult people in our lives. There will be moments when we encounter painful words from them. Sometimes, they will do things that will break our hearts. But even if we are hurting inside, Jesus still commanded us to love them by doing good deeds in response to their actions. Yes, it’s not easy to do it. Especially when the wounds are still open and you can still feel the pain. But it’s a command that God wants us to do. We are called to love the people around us, including those who broke our hearts. It’s one of the things that set us apart from others. We choose to treat people with kindness not because we can do it by our own strength but simply because we trust that God will give us the courage to love them despite what they did.
