His Word

The Best Gift

Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.  He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.

Acts 3:6-8, NIV

Peter saw a lame man outside the temple begging for some money. He caught his attention and boldly shared the words that would remind us what matters most in life. At this moment, the lame man was asking him for a temporary remedy. He was asking for something that would help him survive for a day. But here comes Peter, who is filled with compassion.

He said to the lame man, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Who would have thought that Peter would answer the deepest longing of his heart? Not silver, nor gold. But complete healing and restoration. He gave the lame man the chance to experience a better life – a life with Jesus.

Sometimes, people around us tend to ask for things that would temporarily help them survive for a day. Perhaps a little help or favor. But may we never forget what Peter did. May we learn to look at our brothers and sisters, with eyes of compassion. May we have the kind of heart that’s willing to share the most important Person who could help them.

If you have Jesus in you, then you could possibly share Him to others. The Holy Spirit will be there to lead you to the right person who needs to know and experience His love. It’s good to share your resources, but the best gift you can offer to others is to lead them to the One who can give them true life. It’s introducing them to Jesus.

Prayer: Father God, Knowing you is the greatest gift that I have received. And for sure, you also wanted me to share this gift with others. That’s why I badly need your wisdom and strength. Please give me the courage to share your love with the brokenhearted. Give me a heart full of compassion. That I may learn to look at those who are suffering the way you look at them. Purify my heart, and make your Name known in my life. In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
