The Gifts of Pain
Nobody wants to experience pain in life. Most of us want to protect our hearts from it. But even though it’s not easy to deal with it, there are beautiful gifts behind every wound.
1. Pain will teach us important lessons in life.
Sometimes, we need to experience it so that our eyes will be opened to the things we ignore. Perhaps God had already given us warnings all along the way, but then we chose to follow our own understanding. That’s why, we end up hurting. At some point, we need to humbly receive the consequences of our decisions so that we will learn.
2. Pain will keep us humble.
It somehow reminds us that we badly need God. When we feel things that are so hard to deal with, it gives us the idea that we can’t live this life on our own. It teaches us how to depend on God’s strength and healing. Pain is sometimes a blessing because it leads us closer to God. Without it, we will just depend on our ways and understanding. We will fail to acknowledge Him as our Savior and healer.
3. Pain will teach us how to be compassionate to others.
When we are in pain, we will have a glimpse of what others have experienced. It leads us to empathize with those who are hurting simply because we know how it feels like to live with a wounded heart. It creates an invisible bond or connection between us and those who are struggling. It’s God’s way of reminding us to be kind to others. Sometimes, it becomes a seed that will push us to serve and love those who are broken.
You see, there are beautiful gifts behind the pain we experience. We just need to faithfully abide in God’s ways, especially when we are dealing with it. Let’s continue to trust in Him and believe that His plans are always great.
