His Word

Trust God Despite The Redirections You Experience In Life

Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.

Acts 16:6-7, NIV

Paul was in the middle of his mission when the Holy Spirit would prompt him not to enter certain places. Even though his intention was good, which was to preach the gospel, there were still instances when God would say ‘no’ to his request. This doesn’t mean that Paul did something wrong or God doesn’t want him to preach the gospel; this only means that God has His own perfect timing.

Even though Paul encountered some obstacles along the way, he didn’t resent God. He kept on going until God led him to the right place. Unlike many of us, he didn’t receive God’s redirection as something that was against him. He continued to trust in God’s plans and waited for His timing.

This is a wonderful reminder for all of us, especially those who are going through seasons of redirection. Sometimes, God prevents us from going to certain places despite our good intentions because He has a different plan in mind. There may be moments when He says ‘no,’ but it doesn’t mean He has already rejected us. Instead, God wants us to walk along the path that He prepared.

Just like Paul, let’s choose to trust God despite the redirections we experience in life. We never really know what God prepared along the way. So, instead of resenting Him, let’s choose to obey His will and allow Him to take over. Believe that the Holy Spirit knows what He is doing.

Prayer: Loving Father, thank you so much for giving me the chance to know and love you. Thank you for reminding me to trust in your ways, especially when we experience hindrances along the journey. Please give us a humble heart that’s always willing to hold on to your words. Give us an obedient heart that we may always choose to follow you despite the things we’ve been through. We praise and honor your name, Lord. Be glorified in our lives, always and forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.
