Trust God’s Perfect Timing

They arrived at Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

Acts 18: 19, NIV

Ephesus is a Greek city in Ionian Asia Minor. Paul once attempted to visit this place, but the Holy Spirit forbade him to. This is stated in Acts 16:6: “Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia.”

During that time, God’s answer to Paul’s request was to wait. He asked him to patiently trust in His timing. And true enough, after more or less two years, God permitted Paul to enter Ephesus. And there, he went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. He successfully shared the gospel, as he desired to do.

You see, there are instances in life when we also experience what Paul went through. We have this desire in our hearts that we badly want to fulfill, but sometimes, God asks us to wait. Just like Paul, He will not permit us to do such a thing at the moment. And it’s not because He doesn’t want to help us; it’s just that God has His own perfect timing. And all we need to do is trust Him.

If by chance, God asked you to wait, then believe that He knows what He is doing. Follow what Paul did. He didn’t resent God for His response. Instead, he continued to serve Him and visited the places that the Holy Spirit would lead Him. He remained faithful to His instructions, even though sometimes, he didn’t know the reason behind them. He just allowed God to reign in His life.

Prayer: Father God, thank you so much for reminding me to trust in your perfect timing. Please teach me how to be patient, especially in times when I badly want to receive the answers to my prayers. I pray for your love, Lord, that I may choose to receive it in moments of doubt and uncertainties. Help me, that I may choose to keep my faith in you and trust in your promises in seasons of waiting. This I ask, and pray, in Jesus’ name, amen.
