His Word

Trust in the Lord

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8, NIV

People who trust in the Lord put their confidence in Him. Even though they will go through challenges and storms, they won’t be easily destroyed because they are planted by the water. This means that they will be sustained throughout the seasons. They won’t fear when drought comes because they are connected to the river of life. And these people never fail to bear fruit.

This is what life looks like when we trust God. It won’t be perfect, but despite the changes of the seasons, we will overcome everything because we know the giver and the source of the blessings. When we believe in His power, our worries can no longer consume us. Instead, God will empower us to do the right thing.

Those who trust in the Lord aren’t afraid of trouble. They won’t be easily shaken by unexpected circumstances because they know who’s with them. They are not threatened by the bad things that people are doing because they know their protector, and they believe in His power. They are confident that God will take good care of them no matter what happens.

Lastly, people who have faith in God never fail to bear fruit. And most of the time, these fruits aren’t tangible. These can be the fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We will receive these beautiful gifts when we learn to keep our faith in Him.

Prayer: Father God, thank you so much for reminding us to trust in you and encouraging us to keep our faith in you despite the things that we’re going through. We pray for your grace, Lord, that we may be reminded that you are our source. Teach us how to humbly receive your word, especially when we go through storms in life. Lead us to your heart so we may put our confidence in you. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.
