We are called to serve others
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” -Matthew 20: 25-28
Jesus came here on earth to show us what it means to serve. Yes, He is the Son of God, but still, He demonstrated to us how to truly love His people. If you want to become great in the eyes of God, then you need to give yourself away so that others may live. It means that you need to sacrifice your selfish desires so that you can help those who are deeply wounded.
The Kingdom of God works differently. In His eyes, those who want to be honored must learn how to be humble and serve others. Jesus is calling us to follow His ways. And part of the journey is about living your life for His glory. We do it every time we choose to live for others.
You can’t serve if you keep on thinking of yourself. You need to acknowledge the truth that you are here on earth, not just for your own benefit. You are part of God’s people, and you are a member of a certain community and family. So don’t just live on your own. Try to look at the people around you and ask God how to serve and love them.
Pray for a humble heart that’s willing to surrender to God’s will. Try to do something that is greater than yourself. Don’t just live for your own dreams and aspiration. Instead, follow God’s calling, and only then will you learn to make sacrifices for other people. Yes, you ought to love yourself, but being selfish is totally a different thing.
Seek God’s love, and He will teach you how to patiently walk with someone. Part of serving others is helping them in the most difficult seasons of their lives. It’s about sacrificing your own time and being more understanding to them. It’s not easy, especially when you just rely on your own strength. But when you look unto God and trust that He will give you the grace to serve someone, then you can absolutely support them along their healing process. He will equip you with what you need. He will give you enough resources. Just keep doing the right thing, and you will receive His favor. Open your heart and connect to Him every single day so that He can lead you to the right people that you can help.
Offer to God everything that you have, and He will use them for His glory. Remember that all the blessings that you receive come from Him. So let Him multiply the resources around you so that you can help and serve those who are in need. You can’t give what you don’t have. Serving others must be rooted in God’s great love. You must fully depend on Him so that you will never feel empty and weak. Do everything for the expansion of His Kingdom, and God will give you what you asked in His name.
