When God asks you to Let go of the Good things in your life
Moving forward to the unknown is not easy, especially when you need to let go of certain people, things, or memories in your life that truly became part of who you are. Sometimes, you will go through seasons of loneliness. You wanted to go back and live the life you once had, but it’s no longer possible. You are left with no other choice but to move forward. And that’s extremely painful if you know in yourself that your life will never be the same. You think that you will no longer experience the comfort you once had. The past will then turn into memories that changed your life. The truth is you need to let go of not just the bad things but also the good things that you had so that you can experience the best.
Sometimes, you need to give up the better blessings so that you can accept the best things that God prepared. And this season is really painful because God will ask you to let go of so many things. He won’t immediately take everything away, but He will slowly put you on a journey where you can experience intimacy with Him. And most of the time, it means letting go of the things that potentially distract you from seeking Him. He will ask you to surrender the good blessings so that you can receive what He prepared. You will feel like you are alone in that journey, but the moment you learn to hold the hands of God, that’s when you will appreciate His ways in your life.
Letting go is always challenging. You will ask so many questions, and you will find it hard to comprehend His plans. Why do you need to give up those things that made you feel so loved? Why do you need to go outside your comfort zone if you are already contented with what you have? These are the questions that will bother you. But God can’t give you the best if you won’t surrender the better blessings that you have. It’s not that He intends to hurt or break you. He just wants to realign you to His purpose again. Sometimes, the blessings that we receive from Him, unfortunately, turn into idols that keep us away from experiencing more intimate moments with Him.
When God asks you to let go of the good things in your life, it means that He has prepared something better. He knows what your heart truly wants. You may think that what you have is what you need, but God designed you to have a deeper longing for more of Him. If the blessings you received hinder you from seeking Him more, then most probably, He will ask you to surrender and let go of them. It will truly hurt at first, but later on, you will thank Him for doing such thing because that’s when you realize who God is in your life.
