His Word

When Our Integrity Is Tested

Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

Matthew 26: 14-16, NIV

Judah was trying to betray Jesus by asking for something in return. He was willing to give up his relationship with Him for the sake of fulfilling his own desires. He focused on the money that He would receive rather than glorifying God in the end.

In so many ways, we also have tendencies to focus on temporary wealth rather than on Jesus. For instance, there are days when we are tempted to take some shortcuts just to instantly receive what we wanted, and we forget to consider God along the process.

We act as if we are the ruler of our lives. Just like Judas, we unknowingly trade our integrity and principles just to receive what we want.

This is the reason why we need to continuously check our hearts, especially when we make decisions. Is it for the purpose of following God? Or is it for the sake of our own good?

May we never trade Jesus for something temporary in this world. He is too precious to be compared with earthly wealth. There’s nothing like His love and grace. So, let’s set our eyes on Him, and remember that is worth more than the riches of this world.

Prayer: Father God, thank you so much for reminding me to hold on to my integrity. I pray that you will guide me, especially when I make difficult decisions in life. I pray for your peace and grace that I may learn to trust in you no matter what happens. Help me, Lord, that I may choose you over the temporary riches of this world. May your name be glorified, always and forever, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
