This is the reason why we need a savior. Humans as we are, we tend to commit sins that violate God’s law. We need His grace to help us live this life with freedom. We are still slaves to sin as long as we continue to live according to our selfish nature. This is the reason why Jesus needed to step down and carry our punishments. We can’t simply purify our hearts according to our own will and understanding. His blood alone can set us free from condemnation. It’s not about our own efforts and will. It will never be enough. We need divine intervention, and Jesus did it for us.
