Let God Record Your Miseries And List All Your Tears

Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll—are they not in your record?

Psalms 56:8, NIV

Have you ever experienced that moment when you just can’t stop the tears from falling? No matter how much you try to hide everything, you just felt so weak and exhausted by the pain and the unexpected situation that happened. It drains your soul. Somehow, it kills your hope. These days of miseries were not new to David. Just like you, he also went through moments of brokenness because of the people around Him.

David knew what wickedness was all about because he was once surrounded by people who twisted his words, and those who conspired evil plans just to take his life. He knew what it means to live a life where it seems like nobody wanted him to be alive. That’s why, parts of the Psalms mentioned about the cries of David’s heart. He even asked God to list his tears on His scroll.

It’s like he was telling God, “Oh Lord, please don’t waste these tears.  Record the painful things that I experienced. Please help me realize that everything I’ve been through will never be in vain. Give me the confidence to believe that you hear my cries, and you listen to my prayers.” David simply asked for God’s comfort and company.

There may be days when we feel like the burdens we are carrying are so heavy, but just like what David did. Let’s learn to surrender everything to God. We can be honest about the things that we feel. We can tell Him all our complaints and pain. We can ask for His comfort and presence. Remember that you are not alone in this journey. You can always cry out to God and ask for His love to heal your wounds. Allow God to list your tears on His scroll. Let Him record your miseries and remember that He will never waste everything that you experienced.

He is listening to your cries. You may think that nobody cares for what you feel, but God is there, helping you carry your burdens. He is your dearest friend. He is committed to love you. Remember that He can handle all your negative emotions. He can listen to your outbursts. God will patiently stay with you until you learn to properly process your emotions. Go back to His arms  and you will receive His peace and light.

Prayer: Father God, thank you so much for giving me the chance to share the matters of my heart. Thank you for staying beside me and giving me the strength to move forward. I pray that you continue to remind me to rely on your strength and not on my own wisdom and skills. Please teach me how to dwell in your presence especially when I am alone and broken hearted. This I ask, in Jesus’ Name, I pray, amen.
