His Word

Let’s Not Focus On The Pain And The Bad Things That Happened

Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.” At daybreak they entered the temple courts, as they had been told, and began to teach the people.

Acts 5: 17-21, NIV

When the apostles were arrested, God sent an angel to rescue them. After that, they were instructed to continue preaching the gospel. They just came from prison, perhaps they went through a threatening moment. But they didn’t allow their fear to consume them. They focused not on the obstacle, but on their mission. At daybreak, they immediately went to the temple and began to preach the gospel.

At some point, we also have moments in life when God would allow us to go through challenges. In those times, we tend to feel disappointed or frustrated. Personally, I would probably feel scared. Maybe I would step back and rethink about the mission that God gave me. But the apostles never felt that way. Instead of allowing their fear to consume them, they chose to obey. They moved forward.

This is a great reminder for all of us every time we experience obstacles in life. Let’s not focus on the pain and the bad things that happened. Instead, let’s try our best to move forward and do what God called us to do. Let’s remember the mission that He planted in our hearts. Things may not be easy and smooth, but God will be there to give us the strength we need.

When we allow the frustrations and disappointments to reign, it would stop us from doing the things that God instructed. That’s why, it’s very important that we focus on Jesus. It’s Him who will give us the courage to move forward. It’s His love that will strengthen and give us hope. If you are in a season where it feels like you are facing a huge obstacle, then let this verse remind you to keep going. Never forget the dreams and desires that God planted in your heart. Take another step and keep your faith.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for being so good. Thank you giving me the opportunity to follow your word. As I continue to obey your will, I pray for your wisdom and strength. Please remind me to focus on your love and give me a humble heart to believe in your promises. Let your love take away all my fears. And give me the grace to finish the race. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
