Offer what you have to Jesus, and you will receive more than enough

As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Matthew 14: 15-21, NIV

You will never know the things that God can do the moment you learn to offer what you have to Him. It doesn’t have to be big or extravagant. Just give Him even the little blessings you have, and He can multiply them in ways you can never imagine. When Jesus and His disciples saw the great multitudes following them, He didn’t send them away. Instead, He used the food that the disciples offered to Him so that He could multiply them and bless more people. Jesus felt the need to provide them with food. He didn’t ask God to send manna from heaven. Instead, He showed to His disciples that He could use the little blessings that they had. Jesus looked unto God, thanked Him, and broke the loaves. That’s when the miracle happened.

From this passage, there are three things that Jesus did, and let’s try to observe them:

1. Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish and looked up to heaven.

He presented the blessings to our Heavenly Father. He first offered it all to Him. He acknowledged that the loaves and the fish that He was carrying were all from God. And He chose to look up and accept the truth that He will not receive those blessings if not because of the Father’s love and care. This is a very big reminder for us to offer to God everything that we have and acknowledge Him as the source of our blessings, just like what Jesus did. Sometimes, we tend to look at our own efforts thinking that what we have is all because of our hard work. But remember that it is from God, so offer it back to Him.

2. Jesus gave thanks to God.

Instead of complaining to the Heavenly Father for the little blessings that they had, Jesus chose to thank Him. He knows that it’s not enough but with a grateful heart, He presented the loaves and the fish to God. Jesus knew that He could do great things. And He believes that God also cares for His people. That’s why He chose to glorify His name. Right now, let what Jesus did remind you to look at the blessings in front of you. Even if you think that it is too small, remind yourself that God can perform miracles if you offer it all to Him. Learn to appreciate His ways, and you will experience great things in life. Remember that a thankful heart can attract more blessings and miracles.

3. Jesus broke the loaves, and He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

With so much faith, Jesus shared the little blessings that were in His hands. He didn’t doubt or pray to God to multiply them. He knows what will happen next. He trusted God, and that’s when the multiplication of food took place. So choose to share your blessings, and that’s when you will experience more of Him. Do not keep them just for your own consumption. Remember that you are blessed to become a blessing. You are God’s vessel, so keep releasing His blessing, and you will never feel empty inside.

Never underestimate the things that God can do in your life. Just offer to Him what you have and let Him move. Do not look at your own abilities and strength. Remember how Jesus multiplies food and know that you will experience even greater miracles than that. He will use what you have so that you can bless more people. Just fix your eyes on Him and treat Him as your ultimate source. Thank Him for what you have and release it to those who need some help. One day, God will multiply your blessing, and you will feel in awe of His wonders.
