God Can Change Your Perspective

Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests.

Acts 10:23, NIV

God instructed Peter to welcome some men whom he sent. Now, these men weren’t Jews. They were Gentiles who happened to believe in God. In the past, the Jews were very strict in terms of dealing with the Gentiles. They somehow treat them like strangers and unclean. You would rarely see a Jew engaging with Gentiles. They don’t normally welcome them in their homes because they were careful not to associate themselves with their Pagan gods.

Peter was so strict with his beliefs and customs, but God did something that changed his perspective. He saw a vision from God that led Him to accept the Gentiles. God told Him not to call the things that He already made clean as impure. At first, Peter was hesitant to do it, but later on, He chose to listen to God.

That’s why he was able to welcome the Gentiles that God sent. Peter suddenly had a change of heart. He invited the men that God sent into the house and welcomed them. He also went to Caesarea with them and met Cornelius’ family.

In Acts 10:27-28, it was written, “While talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people. He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.”

You see, God can actually change someone’s perspective. Through divine intervention and personal revelation, He could teach His people, just like how He taught Peter. If people are just willing to listen, then they would learn so many things from Him. If God happens to teach you something, choose to trust in Him.

Prayer: Father God, thank you so much for teaching us the lessons that we need to learn. Thank you for reminding us that you have the power to change someone’s heart and perspective. Please teach us how to trust in your ways, especially in moments when we lose hope. Give us the grace to obey your words and humbly abide in your instructions. This we ask, and pray, in Jesus’ name, amen.
