What I Need Is Just Someone Who Will Listen
I don’t really expect you to answer all my problems. I just want you to be there. I’m not looking for someone who will give me everything I need. I just want to be heard. You may think that I’m too reserved, and I don’t really want to share what I truly feel inside. It’s just I can’t find someone who will genuinely listen to me, someone I can consider as a true friend. It feels like every word from my mouth will evolve into a powerful weapon that they will use against me one day. I don’t know if somebody truly cares for me, but I also wanted to share my whole story.
Maybe you see me as someone who is very sensitive and always thinking of the negative things. But then, as much as I wanted to change the thoughts in my mind, I just can’t easily express everything I feel inside. I need assurance that the words that I’m going to share will be received by someone who cares enough to listen with the right motive.
I’m not really looking for someone who will carry all the burdens I feel. I know that the solutions that I’m looking for are sometimes hidden inside my heart, but it’s difficult to dig in, maybe because I’m so occupied with too many worries and pain. I just have to release everything so that I can think properly. And one way to let the burdens go is to cry out and share it with someone I can be trusted. I just don’t know who that person is.
If you happen to experience fewer struggles right now, please care to observe the people around you. They might be looking for someone who will listen to them, and just like me, they might also feel heavy burdens inside that they need to release. Please don’t judge them. They are only human, and like anybody else, they are also vulnerable on the inside. I pray that you will always have the kind of heart who will choose to listen and help them feel at ease. The journey that they’ve been going through is not easy. But if you will learn to offer a portion of your time for them. Please know that you are giving them a precious treasure that they can always keep inside. And believe it or not, that treasure will grow, and the moment they will overcome their problems, they can also share that beautiful treasure with others.
